The Internet!

As we all know the internet can be a major threat to our children. Children want to chat online and as long as there are major chat programs and Chat Rooms it's going to be more and more internet predators. It is some software out there that can let the parents know where their children have been chatting and even record everything that has been said in a chat room.
This is good if a parent has time to read what the children have been chatting about and with whom they been chatting with. The instant messenger and chat rooms like (Well you know the names) are open to the public and along with these messenger services and chat rooms most require a username and a profile which can expose some of our children's contact information. As long as there is information to the public on these profiles it can be easy to locate people.

So, what can we do? take the computers away from our children? No, that isn't the answer and we don't want to punish our children for something someone else is responsible for.
The fact is, as long as there are public chat rooms there will be predators searching those chat rooms looking for young innocent victims.

So what we suggest is,
instead of letting your children join and download these messenger services, let your child have their very own chat room. That's right, have a private chat room where they can let other children from school, the neighborhood and from church join. Each member that joins your child's chat room has to fill out a member profile which will be stored on a database and the parents will have excess to this database with a password that only they know and the password can be changed as often as you wish.
This way the parents have excess to view and delete members or ban them from your Childs chat room.
Also the parents have control over the chat room and the parents will have name, address, phone numbers and age of each member that joins the chat room.
The database will ask for birth date as well and if someone tries to join that is to old for your Childs chat room, they will not be able to join because of the set age limit on your child's chat room.
Certain raciest and curse words will be banned and will not show up in the chat room.
If you trust your child, then you can set your child as moderator of their own chat room and if someone gets out of line in the chat room, your child can kick them off their chat site.
Now with this method you know the one's that your children are chatting with are local children close to your child's age. Your child can contact their friends on those messenger services and tell them to join their new chat room. Then delete those messenger services all together off your child's computer.
Getting rid of those public chat rooms takes your child away from the potential dangers of strangers and now you the parent have control over who your child chat's with. Plus it can be allot of fun for your child to host their own chat room. Some have even been known to be profitable when enough members join the chat room.
